Marriage is one of the most significant decisions we make in life, and a wedding is one of the most special occasions we celebrate. What better place to exchange your vows than in a historic sandstone church in a picturesque rural setting?

About

St James’ Anglican Church is an integral part of the fabric of historic Morpeth. The church was built from honey-coloured local sandstone by Lieutenant Edward Close in 1840. The gem of the church is the magnificent stained glass window depicting the life of Christ. Before and after the service the beautifully landscaped lawns make for the most timeless photos.

The picturesque rural views with the unique charm and atmosphere of Morpeth make for the perfect setting for your romantic wedding.

Location

Morpeth is located on the banks of the Hunter River 172 km north of Sydney, 35 km north-west of Newcastle and 14 km east of Maitland. St. James’ Church is located at the corner of Tank St and High St, Morpeth, New South Wales, and has plenty of on-site parking for your wedding guests.

Caters For

We cater to an intimate wedding of just a few guests, to anywhere up to 200 guests. Covid restrictions may limit the number.

Price

The cost of a wedding at St James’ is $1,550.

This includes your wedding service conducted by a priest, meetings to arrange your marriage liturgy and legal documentation, a full rehearsal of the wedding, the use of the church, the ringing of the bells, and permission for filming and photography. There is an additional fee for music played by an organist.

Our clergy are also available to officiate at weddings at other locations in our region for a fee of $500.

Welcome to our Family

We look forward to you becoming a part of our church family. You will always be welcome here at St James’, either to visit us for services, to bring children (and grandchildren) for baptism, and in due course for them to be married in our church.  These services along with funerals will always be available to you, regardless of where you live and whether you regularly attend the church or not.
